I have another embroidery pattern with free download to share with you today. I love little baby deer (probably because I’ve never had them in my yard, eating my plants), so of course I needed to include one in an embroidery design. Isn’t he cute?! He’s on a 6 inch hoop, so the perfect size for a small embroidery project. If you like this, make sure to check out all of my other hand embroidery designs.

To make this spring fawn embroidery pattern, you’ll need:

  • free embroidery pattern (instructions to download are at the bottom of this post)
  • 6 inch embroidery hoop
  • white fabric
  • embroidery floss (Colors listed on the pattern.)
  • embroidery needle
  • transfer materials (I used FriXion pens. Take a look at some other methods on my How to Transfer and Embroidery Pattern post.)

The little fawn is the star of the piece. His outline is done in a split stitch. Make sure to keep your stitches small to get nice, smooth curves.

The flowers are woven wheels and lazy daises, which are always my favorites.

Then I added lots of leaves using my small leaf stitch. Click here to see a video on how to do that. It’s labeled as a satin stitch on the pattern, but I do it a little differently.

Embroider small leaves.
